Osteo-Breeder is a revolutionary breakthrough product of bio available Silicon (Sodium Zeolite A).
Bone related injuries and diseases involving bone loss plaque the equine industry. Advancement in increased bone formation may be a key advantage in the longevity of the horse as well as decreasing bone related injuries. Proven research with Silicon (Sodium Zeolite A): Helps with OCD (cartilage degeneration) and DOD (bone disease).
Increases plasma Silicon concentrations in mares in foal and yearlings
Increases milk Silicon concentrations in broodmares, thereby increasing plasma silicon concentrations in foals
Bone health dependgs on Si (Silicon)
Silicon plays a very important role in bone calcification, especially in the growth of new bone
- Proven research Silicon strengthens connective tissue
- Silicon is needed for bone and cartilage building process
- Facilitates deposits of calcium and minerals into the bone matrix
One of the primary bones related problems is DOD (Developmental Orthopedic Disease) and damaged cartilage (OCD) which is the “silent disease” because until you have a bone injury, there are no symptoms. This usually causes problems when the horse enters training. Normally, as an animal grows, the soft cartilage at the ends of long bones matures and remodels to become hard. With OCD the cartilage does not become hard and instead breaks down, causing lameness. This breakdown of cartilage can lead to joint erosion, lack of cartilage on the joint surface, fluid build-up in the joint, bone cysts, bone to bone contact and/ or pain. The best way to help support the bone in growing foals and all horses is with nutrient therapy. Remember: bone is constantly breaking down and being rebuilt. The rebuilding process however requires proper nutrient support in order for the bone- building cells to do their job. Feeding the proper nutrients that lay the structural foundation for better healthier bones. Horses are athletes and have huge demands that need continual nutrient therapy. It is critical that the broodmare is fed a diet with the right minerals, nutrients and energy requirements to give a foal a good start in life.
The horse’s skeleton is comprised mostly of bone. Bone is a living organism and forms the structural framework which supports the body. Because bone tissue is alive and a in a constant state of mineral (calcium, phosphorus, silicon) deposition and restoration the horse requires a constant source of these minerals to maintain its body reserves. The bone acts as a mineral depot from which these minerals are constantly being reabsorbed and laid down in a continuing process of growth and remodeling. Silicon is necessary for bone and connective tissue (collagen) to be properly formed.
The future of all foals is dependent on developing their skeletal framework. Evergreen Osteo-Breeder will help build the foundation that will carry them from a young foal, to a budding 2 year old to ultimately…. The winners circle. Available in a very palatable small pellet that horse’s readily eat. Proper mineral balance is essential.
Bone also acts as a mineral depot from which the body draws, supplies of specific minerals for the proper maintenance and function of soft tissues and body fluids. Because the horse’s skeleton is of such fundamental importance to the animal’s performance, its mineral requirements and the body’s mineral requirements deserve careful attention.
